It all started in Kansas City when 3 close friends knew they loved beer and bbq. What better way to enjoy both than building a smoker and competing at KCBS competitions. We pieced together "The Beast" with parts from 2 of our dad's farms.
The best part of this journey was building The Beast with our dad's. Our first competition ended up being the American Royal. The American Royal consists of 3 days of smoking meat and drinking beer. Every competitor should experience it at least one time.
The name of the company had to have meaning to me. Garca was a nickname I had received while I was in the Army in Germany. I had been given a key chain that had my last name of GARCIA on it. Our normal weekend shenanigans of drinking and rough housing caused the I to break off of the keychain. From that moment on I was known as Garca! There might also be a few Garcia's in California.
I knew the mistakes we had made when building The Beast and wanted to find the right fabricator to build this one. I found this great father and son team in Fresno that were willing to build it to spec. Every week I drove to Fresno to be walked thru the updates. I would give my feedback and be told to comeback next Monday. They did a fantastic job!
I finally got the call that she was ready. This was on the way back from Fresno. We were off and running.
In June I resigned from my position and became a full time Pitmaster. We got off to a quick start and could not have gotten it going without the support of the great community of Ripon. Above all else this could not have been done without the strong support and urging of my wife Angela. This was our picture being welcomed into the Ripon Chamber of Commerce. And the story continues...
